What form of exercise works best for you?

The word 'exercise' can be accompanied by images of either going to the gym, or running and may fill someone with dread. However, there are several forms of exercise that offer loads of physical and mental health benefits and can be super fun too!

I found Pilates to do that for me. Regardless of how I am feeling low in energy or perhaps short of time I always get some benefit from my workout.

Come and try a class either as part of a group or book a one to one or a duet equipment session to see if it does the same for you!

What is Pilates ?

Pilates is a system of exercise designed by Joseph Pilates after the First World War, as a means to bring people to optimum health. It was originally called Controlology. The system has been refined and developed by various teachers since Pilates passed away in 1967.

In his book “Return to Life through Contrology” he wrote: “Contrology is the complete coordination of the body, mind and spirit…it is designed to give you suppleness, natural grace and skill that will be unmistakably reflected in the way you walk, play and work. You will develop muscular power with corresponding endurance, ability to perform arduous duties, to play strenuous games, to walk, run or travel for long distances without undue body fatigue or mental strain.”

Pilates is a whole body fitness system which:

  • is adaptable to many fitness levels

  • creates strength

  • increases flexibility

  • develops core strength

  • improves posture

  • increases energy
